I graduated from a very rural Florida school, and my class size was 42. Most of us started school together in kindergarten. They made plans next year for our 20th reunion. I probably won't go. Even though I spent 13 years of my life with them, they never got to know me. I was the odd JW that wouldn't socialize with them. They treated me indifferently which I suppose is better than being bullied. Those years were not the best because I missed out on things I really wanted to do as a child.... sports, prom, friends, honor clubs, ect.... I and like many on this board never got to experience those things. -

Islam is the Epitome of Misogyny
by cofty inin this video the popular saudi cleric sheik yahya al-jana discusses the joys of paradise, saying that men will have the strength of a hundred men in paradise and will be busy tearing hymens, while the virgins of paradise, whose breasts are like pomegranates, become virgins every time again.. the cleric also explains it is mostly men who enter paradise noting that women in general are bad because they refuse to wear the veil, they wear tight clothes in shopping malls, put on perfume and jewelry, and use filthy social media platforms.
source.... this is what young men from conservative muslim families are raised on.
is it any wonder islamic countries treat women appallingly?.

Comic Books, Collector Cards, Coloring Books, Animation.... What other tools do they plan to use to indoctrinate children?
by adjusted knowledge ini didn't realize they had comic books and collector cards for children.
it seems they rail against the world about things and then years later do the same thing.. i remember talks blasting comic books, and other similar teaching devices the local southern baptist would use.
i can recall an elder holding up a comic book about burning in hell from a local church and blasting that religion.

I wonder if they will ever do a separate Sunday school for the local Elder perv can teach the children. I noticed a lot of the new kingdom halls have a few enclosed rooms built in them.

National IQ Test Scores And Psychological Required Profile For Public Veiwing For Those Running For Presidential Candidate
by Brokeback Watchtower ini think this could be like a national service for the betterment of the country so that they have wise leadership abilities that is needed for the job.
this could be a great aid to help the people pick the best qualified to do the job and weed out the mentally incompitant.

Psychological profile like anything concerning psychology is subjective. For every diagnosis one psychologist or psychiatrist makes there will be others that disagree.
A IQ test I'm not sure would be of any benefit. There has been several studies that try to determine past president IQ and there is bias involved in that as well. There are many examples in history of high IQ leaders that made terrible blunders or atrocities.
Maybe a better indication is trying to determine if the candidates are truthful.

First thoughts on "new" meeting...
by konceptual99 inhad a quick look at the workbook and flicked through the sample meeting video.. the increased use of video shows the trend for more centralised dissemination of "best practice" .
sure there isn't really a "school" any more and the format is a bit different but i think those that called it as the same old crap just in new package got it pretty much right.

I love the zoom in on people nodding their head in 100% agreement. The complete focus of everyone.
The reality is children fighting over arm rest or sleeping. Parents looking exhausted worrying about this months water bill.

Our CLAM meeting (vid): SELF-NEGATION is the first "treasure" from first meeting segment
by Gilgamesh inin the first sample video of the clam meeting (christian life and ministry) at about 5 minutes, 50 seconds in, a brother (steven phillips) is assigned the first segment of the new meeting, "treasures from god's word.
" ( http://tv.jw.org/#video/vodstudio/pub-jwbrd_201510_5_video ).
he shows just how sloppy the wts still is at trying to explain the deeper meanings of scriptures.

I so do believe this david schafer is next in line as a GB. I've seen him sent to give talks in assemblies, has had multiple spots on JW broadcast, and seen witnesses fawn over him like he is a rock star. -

On the realization you will not "live forever"
by problemaddict 2 insomething struck me last week.
i have been dealing with what i can only describe as a fear of death.
i'm not old and not in bad health.

If our life wasn't so short, it wouldn't be such a hard pill to swallow. Depending on health and other factors you may live to 80 or a couple decades beyond. But even at 100 years that isn't much time, and for many those later years is fraught with chronic disease.
We on average spend 1/3 of our life asleep, and another 1/3 on mundane things (driving, bathing, defecating ect..). If you're a JW you spend the other 1/3 in servitude.
I think if we as a species could live longer lives then maybe death wouldn't seem so bad. Could you imagine being married to the same person for 300 years? Death would be welcomed.

Are the GB very intelligent men with higher than average IQ? Or are they stupid men who were put in their position by sheer “LUCK”
by John Aquila inare the governing body of the wt wickedly smart with extremely high iq or are they leaders of the wt because they were at the right place at the right time.
(in other words, pure luck )-think lottery.
ive seen them talk in jwtv and you can never convince anyone in the whole world that these guys are in the same category as someone smart or cunning like jim simons who founded renaissance technologies or bill gates.

How many of the GB members went to college??
It's my understanding that they all have the equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree.
In the JW world, do they still believe if reading the WT & Awake 4-8 years is an equivalent of a college degree?
Now that it's going to be bi-monthly and is half what it was in the 90s, does that mean it takes 20 years of reading to reach that urban myth?
I don't necessarly believe a person has to have a college degree to be equated as being intelligent. A person can be well read, and have a limited public education. I doubt these men are well read, and if they are I doubt they use critical thinking. That is my opinion referenced by their communication on www.jw.org

Question: What would it take to get the BORG'S tax exempt status REVOKED?
by Black Man ini've always wondered about this.
i've always felt the main reason the borg made publishers do time slips/field service reports was to show that they are doing a community service to justify their tax exempt status.
we all know about their money grabs with the kh build scams, their selling off millions of dollars in real estate, etc.

It isn't something knew but the problem is some of the same issues the WT faces so does other churches. I feel the only way for them to lose their tax exempt status is when all churches do. This isn't something likely to happen soon.
The gay marriage upheld by the supreme court may cause that issue to be a reason.
In an op-ed published by Fusion, financial writer Felix Salmon made his stance on the matter crystal-clear in his first sentence: “Now that the U.S. government formally recognizes marriage equality as a fundamental right, it really shouldn’t skew the tax code so as to give millions of dollars in tax breaks to groups which remain steadfastly bigoted on the subject.”
